Last July, we witnessed something truly historic. For the first time in the history of this region, specialized Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgical care arrived in the heart of the Amazon. This wasn’t just another medical trip; it was a turning point for thousands of people who previously had no access to this kind of specialized help. By bringing expert care to the most remote areas, we are proving that no location is too far when it comes to saving lives and restoring health.
This mission was a truly global effort. We were honored to host a team of world-class specialists who traveled from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Brazil to serve together. Based in the Brazilian Amazon—specifically in Benjamin Constant and Atalaia do Norte—our team worked hand-in-hand with the local Secretary of Health. This strong partnership was the key to our success, allowing us to reach deep into the surrounding indigenous communities where the need is greatest.
the impact of this first brigade was nothing short of incredible. Our international team served 950 patients, performing 571 medical procedures and 30 life-changing specialized surgeries. From restorative ENT surgeries and nasolaryngoscopies to essential ear cleanings and hearing consultations, we provided a level of care that had never been seen here before. For many of our patients, this was the first time in their lives they could finally hear clearly or breathe without pain.
